I have done many web designs previously in regard to creating e-portfolios, but I was actually never taught how to use different functions within Weebly. After reviewing the different site examples from other teachers, I realize that for a while I have noticed how they have multiple links and different things to access for their students, but I never connected the pieces together and realized I may do this in the future for my students. The embedding of the google calendar was the most unique part for me as I also just began to use google calendar as a better way to time manage. Given everything is virtual, I love how embedding a class calendar brings so much organization for both the teacher and students and every time you update it, it updates on the site as well. Again, Diigo was an interesting tool. One thing I have learned through diigo was the annotations and sticky note tool. I believe it is a creative form to express your thoughts while reading an article and is easily accessible for everyone else to view as well. In the future, if I plan to use diigo or other tools as such, I believe it'll benefit my students in regard to researching and annotating. In order to create a collaborative effort for research projects, I believe I could implement this into my classroom so groups of students can gather research together and briefly explain what each research piece discusses.
I currently do a lot of personal development for my business therefore it is unique to see that teachers do the same thing. Professional development for teachers may help them develop best practices for students and learning, create opportunities for active learning, or help teachers find a way to have a more general focus on their content. Understanding that, when it comes to technology, professional development can help teachers greatly so they are constantly updated on new software and tools to use for their classrooms. The more tech-savvy a teacher is, the more their students can learn more efficiently and effectively. Here is a link to stay informed of technology trends in education. Hi Yali! I really think your website did a great job following all the design principles. I liked how you made the lettering on your banner look inviting. Your "about me" page is very well designed and lists your experiences and education very clearly. Your navigation bar is easy to find and use, and includes great and necessary information. I liked your enrichment activities page and how you found activities students would find enjoyable to use. It is clear you spent a lot of time on your website, great job!
ReplyDeleteHi Yali!
ReplyDeleteMy first comment didn't load but I really liked your website. I think the contrast was good for th pink and black. I like that this color scheme was repeated throughout the website with a soft pastel palette and bold writing I think the alignment was good on the website. I think in terms of both proximity and alignment, it would have felt more natural for me to have the navigation bar centered in the middle horizontally. That's honestly the only thing I would change. Really great website overall. It felt both fun and professional.
